Walk Magazine – Craghopper 12000 Jacket

E-mail to New Scientist

Dear NS,

I am puzzled by a product promotion for the Craghopper Dynamic 12000 jacket in the Autumn edition of ‘Walk’ (magazine of The Ramblers)

It claims …”the unique feature is the mesh lining made from six natural minerals.”

I appreciate that Walk might simply have copied, and précised, a press release from Craghopper (various websites give a fuller description).

But I’m stuck on what is an “un-natural mineral” (press release “…a special mesh lining, made from six naturally found minerals, that reflects your body’s own infra-red rays…”).

How can I avoid my own infra-red rays affecting me without this jacket?

I feel I need a cold shower…
